Gimme That Show-Time Religion
A biblical church is a called-out assembly of the people of God. It gathers on the Lord's Day for the purpose of worshiping God, building up the saints and pointing the lost to the Good Shepherd. Because of several generations of easy-believism evangelism and failure to guard the doors of the churches, membership is now mostly made up of goats rather than sheep. Since goats will not tolerate the spiritual food of the sheep, in an effort to keep the pews & the coffers filled, "shepherds" are now catering to the goat majority. And what does it take to keep the goats coming? IF they have no appetite for spiritual food... IF they will not come to worship God... IF they can not tolerate the preaching of the Word of God... For what will they come? They will come to be entertained! All that is needed to fill a "church" building is pop music with a few Bible words thrown in, a dynamic speaker who says what people want to hear, exciting programs for the children, regular plays and cantatas & the promise of heaven at the end. Who would not want free entertainment while you live and heaven when you die? The problem is that show-time religion is NOT saving religion! If you are a spiritually blind goat, may God open your eyes before it is too late. If you profess to be a Christian, shame on you for dishonoring God by being a part of such a travesty.
