The Wisdom Tooth Philosophy of Christianity

I fear that many professing Christians approach their relationship with God in the same manner they deal with their wisdom teeth. A wisdom tooth is a troublesome thing that, once pulled, never needs to be thought of again. Many approach what they believe to be Christianity in that same way. They are troubled when they hear that there is a God to whom they must answer for their sin. They are encouraged when they hear that God has provided a way of forgiveness through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. To be relieved of painful thoughts of judgment, they make a profession of faith in Christ. BUT once that is done, they think, like with a wisdom tooth, that nothing else is needful. Very little thought of a life of obeying God enters their mind.

BUT what if that is NOT Christianity? What if the Word of God teaches that TRUE saving faith in Christ WILL result in a life of striving to obey God? What if the Bible teaches that unless we submit to Christ as our Lord we do not have Him as our Savior either? Jesus Himself said "if you love me you WILL keep My commandments." {John 14:15} The apostle John adds "we know that we know Him IF we are keeping His commandments." {1 John 2:3} Does your religion include a life of striving to obey the LORD Jesus? Do not let anyone tell you that any other kind of religion saves!
