God's Judgment - Giving Us What We Want
It can be easily demonstrated from the Word of God that one of the ways God judges
us is by giving us what we want. In spite of having Jehovah as their King, the children
of Israel wanted a human king like the nations around them. As judgment for rejecting Him
as their King, God gave them what they wanted and their kings turned out to be their
greatest liabilities. Israel wanted to worship the gods of the nations and God judged them
by sending them into captivity in those nations where they would have all the heathen gods
they could stand. In Romans 1:18-32, we are told that God's judgment for man's suppression
of His Truth & man's itch to do his own thing is to "give them up" to exactly what they want.
We live in a day when men & women & boys & girls want a life without Christ and without His
rule. In 2 Thess. 1:8-9 we are told that is exactly what God will give them... "eternal
destruction FROM the presence of the Lord." You do not want God? Part of your judgment will
be an eternity without Him. Many who make a profession of knowing God want a "church" where
"smooth things" are preached, where they are never confronted about their sin and where they
are told all is well between them and God even when there is no evidence that it is so. What
will be their end if God gives them what they want?
