That's Just Going Too Far

As we have invited brethren to come and worship with us, the excuse we have heard more than once is "that's just too far for us to drive." Now, if these words were coming from those who made no profession of knowing God that would be understandable. But for a true disciple of Christ to say such a thing is inexcusable, especially in light of how far our Lord Jesus went to save us from our sins.

In order to provide for our family's physical needs we are prepared to drive a good distance to work each day. To shop or scratch our entertainment itches there are no limits to how far we will go. BUT to feed our soul and the souls of our family... "that's just too far for us to drive?" What does such an excuse say about our real spiritual condition? If we are truly converted, what does such an excuse say about our priorities? We are talking about never dying souls here. We are talking about eternal consequences that are very much tied to whether or not we sit under a faithful ministry. Do you think God will buy the excuse... well Lord, I would have placed my family under a true ministry BUT that place was just too far to drive?" He will know that in reality, our souls were just not important enough to us.

The Father so loved the world that He gave His Son. The Lord Jesus Christ so loved His people that He gave His life. With those realities before us, is there really ever a "going too far" when it comes to serving God? Come & worship with us .. it's not too far!
