I Never Knew You

Some of the most sobering words in the Bible are the words recorded in Matt. 7:23... "I never knew you." Jesus had just said "Not every one who says to Me 'Lord, Lord' shall enter the kingdom of heaven; BUT he who does the will of My Father in heaven." The point Jesus is making is that a profession of faith in Him will profit nothing UNLESS the fruit of that profession is a life of habitual obedience to what the Bible reveals to be the will of God. Then, in this context of false religious leaders, Jesus goes on to reveal what will happen on the Day of Judgment... "Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, I NEVER KNEW YOU: depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!" On that day there will be many religious leaders who have said they know Christ & who are involved in much religious activity, who will hear Him say to them "I never knew you, depart from Me." And that will be so, said Jesus, NOT because they did not profess to know Him, BUT because in their life & "ministry" they did not say & do what He, in His Word, requires.

There is no such thing as a saving relationship WITH Christ, which does not result in a life of habitual obedience TO Christ. Do you profess Him but know little of striving to do His will? Could it be that you are following to the pit one of these blind guides?
